I signed a contract today for the 4th edition of Financial Management and Accounting in the Public Sector.

It will be published by Routledge in early 2028.

The 4th edition will include new material on:

- Gender budgeting
- Sustainability reporting
- The use of AI in public finance.

These aren't fringe topics. They're reshaping how governments plan, report and account for public money.

The foundations of public financial management, though, haven't changed. That's what the [3rd edition](https://www.routledge.com/Financial-Management-and-Accounting-in-the-Public-Sector/Bandy/p/book/9781032157306?ref=plainfinance.net), published in 2023, still gets right. If you're a finance professional wanting a solid grounding, or an academic looking for a course text, it's worth buying now. You don't need to wait until 2028.You can find it [here](https://www.routledge.com/Financial-Management-and-Accounting-in-the-Public-Sector/Bandy/p/book/9781032157306?ref=plainfinance.net).

I'm proud of this book. Writing a 4th edition means it's still doing its job.
